Point of View: 'Channel surfing through Obama's big jobs speech!' -- The Le Flore County Guardian, September 11, 2011

I just watched our President tell America that we are at an "urgent time" as the result of 30 years of failure. But not to worry; urgency will take a back seat to prosperity if we pass the American Jobs Act right away.

Now settled into the OSU football game and State has already scored, I can't help believe the football gods have blessed Stillwater and the past one hour "new teleprompter evangelical tone" makes me think that people will believe it's revival time in America if Congress will pass the President's bill right away.

State scored again.

We were led to believe by Boehner and McConnell that this was a re-election campaign plan by the President rather than a jobs plan, but both said they were ready to work with the President and find solutions to America's job woes.

And I believe them!

Consider the close working relationship between Boehner, McConnell, Pelosi, Reid and the President to spend an extra trillion or so above budget each year and we got stimulus, bailouts, jobs programs, cash for clunkers and fiscal salvation say the Progressives. This feat of fiscal voodoo was possible because they were able to do it right away.
Our President only wants $450 billion this time, but had you listened, it's paid for, so not to worry. Last month we gave him an extra $2.5 trillion, but I guess that money is needed for other jobs; probably government jobs.

State scored. It's 21 zip. Go Cowboys!

Teachers, vets, 1st responders, young people and everyone who is out of work, The American Jobs Act is just the balanced approach the President has always wanted and he says he will put you back to work if Congress will pass his bill right away.

How is he going to accomplish this feat?

Roads will be built and repaired, schools will be renovated, tax credits and tax cuts for small businesses will be forthcoming, green jobs are part of the plan, extension of unemployment benefits is necessary, and of course a tax cut for you will cover just about everyone except those who must pay the bill: the rich.

Heck, if I understood the President correctly, Warren Buffet wants a law passed that would make him pay his fair share. The President is willing to do just that if Congress will pass his bill right away.

Arizona had better get competitive or I'm going to change channels and watch the Packers- Saints game.

I had planned to write a piece telling readers that the speech was irrelevant because the President and his advisors were compulsive liars. But, since "Big Sis" has begun a crackdown on unfavorable press, I made a decision to keep it positive.

Was it a jobs plan? Yes, but had you listened, you had heard it before. It was called stimulus.

Was it a re-election game plan? Yes, but had you listened, you had heard it before. It was called re-distribution of the wealth.

Is it fiscal salvation that will “jolt the economy”? Yes, for a short period of time, but had you been paying attention, it didn’t work for Bush or Obama earlier.

But it will work if Congress will pass the bill right away, says the President.
